Bonjour,

J'ai un DS409+ en raid5 avec des disque de 1To. Malheureusement il ne me reste plus que 150 Go de libre donc je dois envisager une extension.

c'est sur c'est pas un skyblog ... j'imagine que pour de tel joujou les qualifications requises, la geekitude ( c'est joli comme mot non ? ) , le budget IT etc ... font grimper la moyenne d'age à un seuil qui oblige les participants a avoir une vie personnelle et professionnelle active !

regarding migrating from your 5x1TB drives, you could do the following;

Buy the 2 x 2TB drives and one of these;

By doing this you still only need to buy 2 drives, and this gives you a way of connecting them first to your PC to be used as a backup of your DS508. Plus, you can still use the dual SATA dock with your older 1TB drives when you take them out of the DS508.

Copy all the data from you DS508 to the two new 2TB drives. (it should all fit as you are effectively copying from 4x1TB to 2x2TB).

Once all copied (or one way synced - which is probably a better way of doing it - try Synctoy 2). Then, backup all your config settings and reformat your DS508 with the new SHR option under the newer firmware (obviously I would wait until out of beta as there seems to be a major memory leak with the newer version of SMB implemented in the 2.3.1118 firmware).

Now you can copy/sync all your data back to your DS508 (still with your 5x1TB drives installed). Then install the first 2TB drive in your DS508 - rebuild, install the second 2TB drive in your DS508 - rebuild. Then SHR should give you the option to expand your array by 1TB (using the additional 1TB on each of the 2Tb drives in a RAID 1 array). When you can afford it, buy another 2TB drive and do the same - SHR should allow it to expand by another 1TB - changing the RAID 1 array to a 3 drive RAID 5 array.

Franklin, feel free to interject if my assumptions are incorrect.

a adapter bien-sur, fonctionne avec n'importe quel boitier externe.

SHR = Synology Hybride RAID, c'est ce qui te permet de faire du raid avec des 1 To et des 2 To mélangés, si ton budget ne te permet pas d'acheter 4 x 2 To, dans cet exemple l'utilisation du SHR + expension de volume après coup te permet de n'utiliser rien d'autre que tes nouveaux disques 2To et tes anciens 1 To pour faire la migration, pas besoin de stockage auxilaire comme sur ton pc ou tes disques de sauvegardes ...

C'est tout en effet.

Tu changes les disques de ton RAID 1 par 1, suivi d'un rebuild.

Une fois tout changé tu élargi ton RAID.

Ceci dit, cette solution est assez barbare et a mon avis très longue.

Le mieux a mon avis :

- Faire un backup complet + config ( si tu n'as pas de backup, je rapelle juste qu'un RAID n'est en rien une solution de backup ... )

- Changer tous les disques ( préparés à l'avance de préférence, ou tout du moins un + préparation en ligne de commande des autres dans le syno ).

- Installer le dernier firmware avec le dernier assistant pour initialiser le syno

- restauration de la config suivi des fichiers.
